People look for other people's contact information for various reasons. Some people want to restore their lost connections with their school friends, for example, to organize a reunion meeting. Others might have met an interesting person while on vacation, exchanged phone numbers, but eventually lost the phone number. There are many cases, and they are all very different.

You can start your search with social networks (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, Reddit, VK, and other less popular platforms), but they cannot help you in all cases. Searching all these sites will take a lot of time. There also could be another obstacle—people are increasingly abandoning social networks to protect their privacy. Your old friend may have deleted their social media account years ago!

The best way, in our opinion, is to use people search engines. ClustrMaps is one of the best sites. It has information about nearly 200 million US residents.

Sources

ClustrMaps, like similar sites, primarily uses public records to find out a person's address. Corporate registration records, real estate deeds, assessor records, granted licenses, permit records—these documents often contain names and corresponding addresses.

ClustrMaps, like Google, Bing, and Yahoo, also indexes the Web, primarily phone directories, business directories, and social media profiles. These pages very often contain names and contact information.

Search Tips

You can start your search with the People Directory below and try to find your contact there. But it's much easier to just enter the first and last name in the search bar.

If a search query returns tons of results (just imagine how many people with the name John Smith live in the United States), then you can use filters to narrow the search down. For example, you can narrow your search geography if you know your friend's state or town.

If your search query didn't provide enough results or provided zero results, try searching a slightly different query. Do you know the alternative names of the person you are looking for? Try searching for short forms of the name or diminutive variants. Finally, you may try searching names in other languages (for example, lookup Alexander AND Alessandro).
